David George Edel passed on from this earth in the early morning of August 26, 2024, at his home in Naples, Florida. A celebration of life gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday October 12, at Richter Woods—35674 173rd Ave, Montgomery, MN, 56069.

Kathy Beatty passed away at her home in Montgomery, MN, on September 23, 2024, at the age of 86. She was born in McGrath, MN, on July 19, 1938, to Simon & Julia (Bolan) Schwarzbauer. Kathy moved to St. Paul, MN, shortly after her graduation from McGrath High School.
In February 1957, she married Leonard Beatty at Sacred Heart Church in Wahkon, MN & together they raised six children.

James Edward “Jimmer” Reiter, age 82, of Montgomery, died on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in Montgomery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 25 from 4-7 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father Timothy Sandquist officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery area American Legion Honor Guard. Interment will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Stanley Francis Handsuch, 94, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife at their home in Hill City, MN.

Donald Peter Petricka
 February 22, 1945 - September 15, 2024 (79 Years)
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Donald Peter Petricka, on  Sunday, September 15. He leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and countless cherished  memories.
Born on February 22, 1945, to Christina and James Benjamin Petricka in Montgomery, MN, Donald was the youngest sibling to his older sister Genevieve, and older brother Mahlon.

Mary Jean (Mager) Regenscheid passed away on September 13, 2024, at Cherrywood Advanced Living in St. Cloud, MN at the age of 84.  A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a,m,, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, MN.

The early morning house fire west of Montgomery at the home of the beloved Roman and Betty Jindra on July 14 now has new details released on the cause of the fire and manner of death.
The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office report indicated that the initial deputy arrived on scene at 1:02 a.m., just six minutes after the 12:54 a.m. 911 call was placed by the couple saying that they were trapped in the house and that the house was on fire.

A resolution to execute a Quit Claim was approved by the Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners during their regular meeting on Aug. 26. The land in question is the Le Sueur County Fairgrounds.
The approval to take action on the parcels was first approved at the Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners meeting on Aug. 6.
The resolution transfers ownership of the fairgrounds from Le Sueur County to the Le Sueur County Fair Association.

I just got done reading the Messenger. Guess what? We will have a tobacco shop for tobacco products and some cannabis items! And — our grocery store is closing!
I don’t deny these pleasures to the people that enjoy them. It’s their decision and their health.
But some of us — especially the elderly (I’m 87) — need fresh produce, canned and frozen foods, and need to be able to get them nearby. I wonder how many people that didn’t support the grocery store will visit the tobacco shop.

I’d like to start off saying I have been very disappointed with the grocery store Molter’s.

More than 50 teams and close to 400 runners competed in the Thursday, Sept. 5 Gerry Smith Invitational at the Montgomery Golf Club.
The Tri-City United girls team placed 16th among the 25 full teams, scoring 382 points. Waconia won the race with a score of 61. Belle Plaine placed second with 1226 and Mound Westonka was third with 157.
Senior Yasmin Ruiz led the Titans with a 13th place finish in 20:27. Fairmont senior Macy Hanson won the race in 18:20.

Schmiesing sets school record in 200 IM
TCU junior Ella Schmiesing set a new school record and her teammates combined to defeat Math and Science Academy, 65-32 Thursday, Aug. 29.
Schmiesing’s record was in the 200 IM in a time of 2:18.23. The new record breaks the mark set by Mallorie Plut.

The Rice & Steele 911 Center, the emergency communications center serving Rice and Steele counties, has implemented Spark, an online reporting tool designed to streamline the process of reporting non-emergency incidents.
This tool enables residents to easily and securely report issues such as thefts, vandalism, parking complaints and other non-urgent matters directly through their website.

TCU sophomore Kinsley Mach scored four goals to lead the Tri-City United girls soccer team to a 6-1 win over Windom/St. James/Madelia Tuesday, August 27.
Sophomore Kirra Flicek and freshman Camila Perez also added goals.
Junior Lupita Lopez had two assists and Perez and freshman Layla Estevez each added one assist.
The Titans are 2-2 this season after losing a 2-0 contest to Triton, Friday, Aug. 30.
TCU will host New Ulm Thursday, Sept. 5 and Sibley East Monday, Sept. 9. Tuesday, Sept. 10 they will play at Waseca.

The content of public words and actions combined with a person’s/organization’s overall words and actions in private matters in the political realm, whose words and actions affect the lives of every person within that country.

Two of the things I dreaded most when we moved to Minnesota was the prospect of more snow and the potential for tornadoes.
Snow was no stranger to West Virginia. We received plenty of it in some years. But I am not a fan. Trace amounts are plenty for me. I do enjoy those evenings when the snow is falling and the sound mutes out all other things. It’s just that those evenings are also the ones where you have some place you need to go.
Tornadoes, or the threat of tornadoes, are a new experience altogether.
