New Prague’s Main Street will be closed beginning on Monday, Sept. 12, for warranty repairs to the street from Highway 21 to Seventh Avenue SE. According to a memorandum from Public Works Director Matt Rynda to the New Prague City Council six concrete panels along Main Street, west of the railroad, cracked in 2021. The damaged concrete panels are also over storm sewers constructed early in the project and is under warranty.

Marian I. Simon, age 95, of New Prague, died peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in Jordan.  Marian was born on June 6, 1927 to Frank and Christina (Tuma) Svoboda on a farm in Cedar Lake Township. She attended School District 31 in St. Catherine; after the school closed, she attended the school of the Most Holy Trinity in Veseli, graduating in 1941. After graduating, she worked at Emil Dvorak’s and Dick Korbel’s candling eggs.

Clarence J. Jirak, age 97, of New Prague, died peacefully at home with his family at his side on Saturday, September 3, 2022.  Clarence was born on December 13, 1924 at home in Lanesburgh Township, Le Sueur County to John F. and Mary (Korbel) Jirak.  He attended country school, graduated from Montgomery High School, and finished certification in refrigeration at Dunwoody Institute.  Clarence was one of the few remaining veterans of WWII, having served in the Philippines in the US Army.  He married his bride of almost 70 years, Mary Shaughnessy, on May 23, 1953 at St.

One team was expected to advance into the final round of 16 teams. The other team had never been there. But, both St. Patrick and Webster will now be playing in the final weekend of the Class C Baseball Tournament this weekend in Faribault and Dundas.
St. Patrick was the Region 3C Champions and have been to State numerous times. They received a first round bye and picked up their opening tournament win Friday, Aug. 26 with a 5-1 victory over Urbank.

A suspect has been charged in the December 21, 2021 robbery at New Market Bank in Elko New Market. On December 21 a robber got away with an undisclosed amount of money after presenting a note to the teller. No arrests were initially made. Recently Scott County Attorney Ron Hocevar and his office drew up a Formal Complaint against Eric Raymond Martin, 58, of Dakota County, after he was arrested for alleged similar thefts.

Alvina L. Kallal, age 94 of Lonsdale, passed away August 25, 2022. ( November 23, 1927 - August 25, 2022 )  Preceded in death by husband, George M. Kallal; parents, Martin and Martha Rempfert; sister, Glendora Willie; brother, Martin Rempfert. Survived by daughter, Georgia "Jeannie" (Raymond) Greenbush; grandchildren: Kim Kallal, Jeffery (Laurie) Greenbush, and Brad Greenbush:, great-grandchildren, Evan Kallal, Kaylie Weaver, Grace, Grant and Kade Greenbush; daughter-in-law, Jane Kallal; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Deborah “Deb” Kay (Bertrang) Piotter, age 51 of New Prague, died after a short illness at Ridgeview Medical Center in Le Sueur, MN on Monday, August 29, 2022.  Memorial service will be on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Le Sueur at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be on Thursday, 4:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning. Celebration and lunch will follow at the Caribou Gun Club in Le Sueur, (30649 380th St.).  Burial will be at a later date, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Henderson, MN.

Brenda M. Starnes, age 58, of New Prague, died unexpectedly but peacefully of natural causes at her home on Sunday, August 28, 2022.  Brenda was born on March 30, 1964 in New Prague to William J.

Anthony “David” Solarz, age 75 of Lonsdale, passed away August 17, 2022. Preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Elizabeth and brother, James. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Chris; children, Teri (Michael) Hatfield and Kevin (Amanda) Solarz; grandchildren, Alexa, Lucas, Mason, and Riley; siblings, Richard (Sveta), Betty (Greg) Leininger, and Joel (Jody); sister-in-law, Pam Donaldson; also by other loving nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

The 49th Annual Pioneer Power Show held its daily parade at 12:30 p.m. of tractors on Friday, Aug. 26, with a wide assortment of tractors, including steam powered ones. The Pioneer Power Show started August 26 and will be held this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 and 28. The Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Association holds the annual show which has tractors and farm equipment. This year the show also features vintage and antique snowmobiles from the 1950s through the 1980s. There is also music, food, a tractor pull for the large vehicles and a smaller one for kids on Saturday.

Nancy L. Hafermann, age 85, in Eden Prairie MN, returned home to the Lord on August 19th, 2022.  Survived by beloved children, Tim, Joe (Jone), Sandy, Barry (Kay), Mike, Susan; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; dear brother, Jon; lovely friends both old and new. In lieu of flowers, please direct any memorials to Special Olympics.

Robert Dean Pierce, born Halloween, 1939 to Estelle & Merle Pierce in Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2022 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.  Bob was raised in Minneapolis by mother Estelle, step-mother, Marie, & father Merle.  He attended St. Cloud State and Northwestern Chiropractic College prior to joining the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era.  He attended McConnell Airline School, graduated, and worked for American Airlines in Chicago.  He returned to Minnesota and had a long career with Western and Delta Airlines.

Joyce N. (Lambrecht) Hertaus, age 77, of New Prague, MN died peacefully surrounded by family on August 23, 2022 at The Lodge on Natchez, New Market Township, MN after a short battle with cancer. She was born on August 17, 1945 in New Prague, MN to Clarence and Mary Ann (Breimhorst) Lambrecht.
