Ruth Marie (Halloran) Flicek Johnson, age 90, of Madelia, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021 at United Hospital in St. Paul following a stroke.
Ruth was born in Belle Plaine, MN, in 1930 to John and Grace (Schoell) Halloran and grew up on a farm near St. Thomas. She graduated from New Prague High School in 1948 and the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul in 1951 with a diploma in nursing. Ruth worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, and the Madelia Hospital until she started her family.

Jean A. Hartman, age 72, of Jordan, MN, passed peacefully surrounded by family at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. 

Kathryn M. “Katie” Berg, age 40, died peacefully with her family by her side, just one day shy of her 41st birthday on April 9, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.  Katie was born on April 10, 1980 in New Prague to Paul and Mary Lee (Shonka) Berg.  She attended St. Wenceslaus School, graduated from New Prague High School, graduated from Argosy University in dental hygiene, and attained her B.S. from Minnesota State University Mankato.  Katie had an indomitable spirit, enjoying dance in her younger years and music all her life.

Gerald M. “Jerry” Anderson, age 59, of New Prague, died suddenly on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital New Prague.  Jerry was born on March 17, 1962 in St. Peter, MN to Michael and Dorothy (David) Anderson.  He graduated from Le Center High School and Mankato State University.  Jerry married the love of his life, Lori L.

Patricia Jean Krouse, 76, of New Prague, MN, passed away after a lengthy illness on April 5, 2021 with her husband by her side.

Jeanette D. Tupy, age 84, of New Prague, died peacefully Easter night, April 4, 2021 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living.  Jeannie was born on February 16, 1937 in Webster to Arthur D. and Julia (Voracek) Lexa.  She graduated from New Prague High School and before she was married, Jeannie worked as a nanny and in the kitchen at Queen of Peace Hospital.  She married Arnie L.

Helen C. (Ryan) Pomije, age 92, of New Prague, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, April 3, 2021.

Debra Ann Olson (Erickson), age 69 died peacefully on March 29, 2021 at her home in Elko with her children by her side. She fought for many years against a complicated, non-alcohol related liver disease.

Martha D. Madera, age 96, of Brooklyn Center, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 5:30 AM in the arms of her loving daughter, Mary, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a brief illness.  Martha was born on March 31, 1924 in Lonsdale to Thomas J. and Julia (Douda) Voracek.  She attended both grade school and high school in Lonsdale.   She married the love of her life, Edmund J.

Leonard R. Sticha, age 89, of New Prague, entered eternal life surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Praha Village.  Leonard was born the youngest of 8 children on February 25, 1932 at the family farmstead in Cedar Lake Township to Joseph A.

David Thomas Theilmann, “Dave” age 82 of Rosemount, formerly of New Market, passed away at his home on March 24, 2021.
David was born in St. Paul on November 13, 1938 to Wilbur “Tom” and Bernice Theilmann. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Donald and brothers, George, and Clark Theilmann. David is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Millie; children, Laure (Jerry) Fischer, David Jr. (Bev), and Sue Theilmann; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Theilmann, also by other family and friends.

Jean Marie Martin passed away peacefully with her children by her side after a brief illness on Wednesday March 24, 2021. Jean was born on February 14, 1948 in South Minneapolis to Harold and Marlys (Hanson) Walton. She was married to Robert William Henry Martin on August 26, 1972 at Pine City Methodist Church. Jean worked for ISD 196 as a food and nutrition manager for many years.

Donald A. “45” Nickolay, age 68, of Elko New Market, died Monday, March 22, 2021 with his wife at his side after a brief illness at University of Minnesota Hospital.  Don was born on July 27, 1952 in New Prague to Francis J. and Lorraine L. (Shimota) Nickolay.  He attended St. Wenceslaus School, graduated from New Prague High School, and attended Faribault Vocational-Technical School in welding.  He married the love of his life, LuAnn R.

Shirley J. Meyer, age 95, of New Prague, died peacefully, with her family at her side on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center.  Shirley was born on October 11, 1925 in Wheatland Township, Rice County, MN to Theofil M. and Bessie (Novak) Kajer.  She attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from New Prague High School.  She married Donald E. Meyer on November 9, 1946 at the St. Wenceslaus Rectory in New Prague.  Shirley’s faith was always a central part of her life and she was active at St.

Gladys R. Eilers, age 77, of New Prague, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at King’s Way in Belle Plaine.  Gladys was born on December 7, 1943 in New Prague to Leonard and Christine (Wolf) Nytes.  She was born and raised in the Union Hill area, attending Le Sueur County District School and was a 1961 graduate of New Prague High School.  Gladys married Donald W. “Fuzzy” Eilers on April 12, 1980 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill and the two were pretty inseparable ever since!  She was a member of St. John’s Parish Catholic Aid Association and then St.

Scott Dale Mischke, age 53 of Elko New Market passed away at his home after losing his 4 year fighting battle with prostate cancer on March 13th, 2021. Preceded in death by his loving parents; Duaine and Janice Mischke; uncle, Jim Jenkins and grandparents; Ken and Gloria Jenkins (Worthington, MN). Survived by wife, Debra; children, Nathan Mischke, Linzey (Josh) Stocker, and Miles Mischke; granddaughter, Raelyn; siblings, Cindy (Kevin) Burns, Leeland (Jayne) Mischke, Kevin Mischke, and many nieces and nephews.
