Lillian “Molly” Tupy, 84, of Northfield, MN, died Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Three Links Care Center, Northfield.
Lillian Mary Schoenbauer was born on October 25, 1935 to Joseph and Ludmilla (Kes) Schoenbauer on the family farm in New Prague. She was raised there and attended St. Wenceslaus through the eighth grade. She continued to help on the farm for a few years before meeting Ben Vosejpka at a cousin’s wedding. They were married on September 22, 1953.

Robert “Butch” C. Patch, age 77 of Savage, MN passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 at The Comfort House in McAllen, Texas.
Butch was born on April 8, 1942 in Farmington, MN the son of Donald and Irene (Broos) Patch. He is a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Before retiring, Butch worked for Continental Machines in Savage.
Cecelia Kes, age 81, of Edina, formerly of Burnsville and longtime critical care nurse at St. Francis in Shakopee, passed away February 2, 2020. Celebration of Life Service is Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM with a Memorial Gathering from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Trinity Church (10658 - 210th Street West) in Lakeville. Cecelia loved and was loved abundantly.
Laurie A. Tolzmann, age 57, of New Prague, died peacefully after a 5-year battle with cancer on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Laurie was born on December 30, 1962 in Owatonna, MN to David and Laurel (Kavitz) Bathel. She graduated from Prior Lake High School and attended Normandale Community College. She worked as an administrative assistant for the tribal government for 26 years.. Laurie married the love of her life, Jeffrey B.
Judy A.Rademacher, age 81, of New Prague, died peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Judy was born on July 18, 1938 in Iowa City, IA to Richard and Irene (Virchow) Lyman. She spent a short time in Mason City, IA until the family moved to Minneapolis where Judy graduated from North High School. She married the love of her life, Mike Rademacher at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis on June 25, 1960. She had many part-time jobs throughout her life but the longest one was spent working at the arsenal during the Vietnam War. Her true calling was
The highlight of New Prague High School’s Snoball celebration was the coronation ceremony on Friday, Jan. 31, in the high school gym. Balanced scoring helped the New Prague girls basketball team win a pair of games last week, stretching their winning streak to six straight.
The Trojans had five players score nine points or more in a 68-43 nonconference win over Bloomington Jefferson.
Six different players scored eight points or more in a 69-58 win over Holy Family Friday, Jan. 24.
The New Prague adapted floor hockey team has started its 2020 season with four straight wins.
The Trojans defeated South Suburban, 10-2, Jan. 23. They defeated South Washington County (9-7), Burnsville/Lakeville/Farmington (BLF) (7-1), and Owatonna (16-1) last week.
Against South Suburban, Dylan Raaen had five goals and two assists. Leo Fahey had two goals and two assists.
The New Prague Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Meeting and Dinner on Monday, Jan. 27, with 95 members attending. Held at Ridges at Sand Creek, north of New Prague, Chamber staff gave a review of the last year and goals for 2020.
The meeting also named the Business of the Year, with Carla Sticha of Keepsake Insurance, LLC receiving the award out of the five nominees. Other businesses that were in the running were Cedar Brook Garden Center, Giesenbrau Bier Co., Scott Equipment Company and Palmer Welcome Auto.
This spring two long awaited scheduled projects will finally get started. For New Prague it will be the Main Street project, the reconstruction of the street, sidewalks and replacing of utilities underneath the street, some of which are nearly a century old. In Elko New Market it will be the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of their Main Street (Scott County Road 2) and Natchez Avenue (Scott County Road 91).
