Geraldine "Geri" Hope (Frye) Sandin, 80

Geraldine "Geri" Hope (Frye) Sandin, age 80, passed away on January 2, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by family. Geri was born January 30, 1943, in Clayton, Iowa to John and Lucille (Beckett) Frye.
Geri is survived by her husband, Jim: children, Denise (Matt) Tveite of Benton, KY, Bonnie (Max) Basemann of Bagley, WI, Carol Sandin of Sioux Falls, SD and Pete Sandin of Mills, WY; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Iris Dohse, Gerald Frye, Rollie Frye, and Eleanor Soulli along with many nieces and nephews. Geri is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Frances Kruse, Lyle Frye, Betty Stickfort and Kenny Frye.
Geri grew up in Clayton and graduated from Garnavillo High School. She moved to Minneapolis to go to school where she met Jim and they married on November 16, 1963. They moved from Richfield to rural New Prague in 1974, and enjoyed many wonderful years.
Geri always kept herself busy, but caring for her family was her first priority. She always enjoyed vegetable/flower gardening, watching the birds in the backyard, and looking for mushrooms in the spring. In her earlier years she was a medical receptionist, she did in-home daycare, was a Tupperware dealer, and owned and operated Sandin Secretarial Service. She was also very active for many years with church activities and 4-H.
A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague on January 19 at 11 a.m. with a visitation at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
A service and inurnment will be held at Clayton Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
