The latest round of results from the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) given last spring in reading, math and science show New Prague students are well above the state average yet down slightly in one of the three subject areas.
Results from the MCAs given last spring show 60.5 percent of New Prague’s students were proficient on required skills in reading, 64.8 percent in math and 59.5 percent in science.
Those proficiency numbers for New Prague are down slightly from 2022 in reading (62.1 percent) and up a slightly in math (61.6) and science (58.7).
New Prague’s students are well above the state average for proficiency in mastering skills math, reading and science. In 2023, 49.4 percent of the state’s students were proficient in reading, 49.5 in math and 39.2 percent proficient in science. Those numbers are down slightly from 2022 in science and reading, up slightly in math and still well below the high-water mark in all three subject areas in 2019. That year, 59.2 percent of the state’s students were proficient in reading, 55 percent proficient in math and 50.7 percent proficient in science.
