As Labor Day will arrive this weekend, so does the expected “phase one” part of the Highway 13 project by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). This means the contractor should have the bulk of the work done from Lexington Avenue north and at the roundabout being constructed at County 28 and Highway 13 between New Prague and Montgomery.
“The contractor is working diligently to have both the segment in front of the school and the roundabout open by September 1, but it will be close. MnDOT does have contingency plans worked out with the contractor and city if the segment in front of the school can’t be fully opened so that access to the school can be achieved. In either case, MnDOT will send an official news release later this week notifying the public on what segments will be open or how navigating through them will be done,” says Adrian Anderson, MnDOT construction supervisor and engineer assigned to the project.
Anderson sounds hopeful that the work will be done by the expected timeframe of September 1, but construction can bring hiccups. A good example of this is the breaking of a gas main this past Monday morning on the project at Lexington Avenue. Unforeseen issues do arise.
