Betty J. Fahrenkamp, age 85, of Jordan passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Oak Terrace in Jordan, MN.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (100 6th St. W.) in Jordan with Rev. Jeremy Glowicki as officiant.  Visitation held 1 hour prior to service.  Interment in Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan.

New Prague area residents who noticed 65 motorcycles in front of the city’s new Veterans Memorial were likely wondering what was happening.

Matthew was born to David and Susie McCollister on June 24th, 1981, in Duluth, MN. He was raised in New Prague, MN with his two younger brothers, Kyle and David. It was in this family that he developed his love of being a Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan. 

Richard E. Unger, age 67, of New Prague, died peacefully with his family at his side at home on Saturday, May 28, 2022.  Richard was born on May 20, 1955 in New Prague to Albert and Irene (Ambroz) Unger.  He graduated from New Prague High School and farmed for a short time before going to work at MVE/Chart, as a plumber/welder, the job he would hold for 32 years.  After that he worked in various factories until his cancer diagnosis.  After being good friends and kind of dating for 8 years, with just a little bit of a nudge, Richard married the love of his life, Nancy A.

Command Chief Warrant Officer Brent Jensen of the Minnesota Army National Guard will be the main speaker on Memorial Day in the New Prague area on Monday, May 30. He will deliver his speech during ceremonies at the new Veterans Memorial along Main Street. It will be among several observations around the area on Memorial Day.

New Prague High School’s Class of 2022 celebrates at the end of its graduation ceremony at Trojan Stadium on the evening of Friday, May 27. FOX 9 Chief Meteorologist Ian Leonard, holding microphone, had an impromptu race with young fans during the Town Ball Tour at Veseli the evening of Thursday, May 26. During the busy evening FOX9 news anchors talked with current and former baseball players of the Veseli Warriors and featured the ballpark east of New Prague. There was also free ice cream and music by the Trouba Troubadours. The evening capped off with the Warriors taking on the Belle Plaine Tigers. Through the third weekend of play in the DRS Amateur Baseball League, every team has recorded at least one victory.
The Montgomery Mallards continue to hold the league lead with a 5-1 record. They were defeated by Elko, 11-3, Friday, May 20. Sunday, May 22 the Mallards downed St. Benedict, 7-1.

William B. Kajer, age 91, of New Prague, died peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Bill was born on May 31, 1930 in New Prague to George and Margaret (Savage) Kajer.  A lifelong resident of New Prague, Bill graduated from New Prague High School.  He met the woman who would become his wife, Joyce Marie Kocks, while still in high school.

Evelyn E. Smisek (née Madera), age 97 of Minnetonka, passed away May 14, 2022. 

Our eldest daughter, Eve Marie Musil, passed away on December 13, 2021 in Gilbert, AZ. She put up a good two-and-a-half year fight against cancer! She fought the battles but, in the end, she lost the war.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Bruzek Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom.

George David Kovarik, formerly from MN passed away peacefully on Jan. 23, 2022, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at K.C. Hall, 411 4th Ave. SW, New Prague, MN from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Please RSVP by text to Pat at 702-498-7883 by May 28, 2022.

Richard Schultz, age 74, of Prior Lake, MN, passed peacefully May 16, 2022, after a 47-day battle with stomach cancer. All services held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Fish Lake, Prior Lake. A visitation will be on Thursday, May 19, from 4-7 pm, and on Friday, May 20, from 10-10:45 am, with a Christian Funeral at 11 am. Guests may also join via livestreaming by visiting immanuel-fishlake.org. Interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
