The dual meet season has come to an end for the Tri-City United wrestling team Thursday, Feb. 16 in the Section 2AA team Tournament.
The Titans, the No. 6 seed, opened with a 58-23 win over Orono. This set up a match with No. 3 seed Scott West in which the Titans were defeated 50-22.
The top four seed, New Prague, Watertown-Mayer/Mayer Lutheran, Scott West, and St. Peter advanced to Saturday’s semifinals.
New Prague def. St. Peter and Watertown Mayer/Mayer Lutheran defeated Scott West to advance to the championship. The Section 2AA Champion is New Prague, who defeated Watertown-Mayer/Mayer Lutheran in the title match.
In TCU’s win over Orono, the Titans won the first eight bouts to open up a 46-0 lead.
Tucker Skluzacek (106) pinned Chaz Doughty in 31 seconds. Keegan O’Meara (113) received a forfeit. Eli Viskocil (120) recorded a 145-5 major decision over Alec Peterson. Riley Skluzacek (126) pinned Tamer Abukhadra in 29 seconds.
Cole Franek (132) pinned Solomon Rothbauer in 11 seconds. Chris Johnson (138) pinned Jack Eugster in one minute. Brant Lemieux (145) pinned Tate Kracht in 1:15. Gavin Sherman (152) pinned Devin Pearce in 1:54.
The Spartans won four of the final six matches. Winning for the Titans were Caden O’Malley (162) by fall in 43 seconds over Max Hultmann and Marco Reyes (285) pinning Nash Erstad in 26 seconds.
