Two New Prague businesses are under new ownership with one receiving a new name in the process.
Under new ownership are the Corner Bar and Pioneer Saloon, which has been renamed Outlaw Saloon.
Outlaw Saloon On Friday, Sept. 1, Rob Krautkramer and his partner, Dione Bast, became the new owners and operators of the Outlaw Saloon, 103 Main St. W. As the Pioneer Saloon, it was owned and managed by Mark Michel for 24 years.

Homecoming is in full swing at New Prague High School. Events for homecoming celebration began Friday, Sept. 15, continued Sunday, Sept. 17, with the powderpuff football game and has included dress-up days from Monday, Sept. 18, through Friday, Sept. 22.
Friday there will also be the homecoming football game as New Prague takes on Rochester Century, 7 p.m., at Trojan Stadium. Following the game will be the homecoming dance in the high school’s gym.

Nellie Elizabeth Molitor, age 44, of New Prague, died suddenly due to cancer complications on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.            
She was born May 6, 1979, and is survived by parents Joe and Tina Molitor of Elko New Market, Minn.
Nellie graduated from New Prague High School in 1997 and the Minneapolis Business College of Roseville. 
Services will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Elko New Market on Friday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the services, with a lunch to follow.

Having just witnessed my first Dozinky Days and car cruise, the amount of work and planning for the event was impressive. Well done, New Prague.
The weather drew a huge crowd downtown, perhaps bigger than expected. The event of course benefitted from near-perfect weather and the experience the Chamber of Commerce and volunteers have to draw upon.

In the six-plus years they have called New Prague their home, Chris and Nichole Davis have developed a deep connection to the community and appreciation for all it offers residents. Now, they want to bring one of its most historic and under-utilized amenities back to life for the benefit of the entire community.

Michael J. Liepold, age 61, died peacefully with his family at his side as a result of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease at Praha Village Monday, Sept. 18, 2023. Mike was born March 20, 1962, in Heron Lake, Minn. to Marvin and Anne (Lusk) Liepold.

Viola Adeline Buske, age 84, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, at Villages of Lonsdale.
She was born Oct. 1, 1938 in Echo, Minn.. Vi was the third of five children born to Harold and Augusta (Hartke) Marquardt. Viola enjoyed many things in life including gardening, all her pets, spending time dancing with her husband and reminiscing with family and friends. Many things of importance, but nothing compares to what she enjoyed the most, spending time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Casey John Trimpey, age 57, of New Prague, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023.  Casey was born in Sarasota, Fla. on Sept. 15, 1965, to Robert and Joann (Colvin) Trimpey.  The family moved to Minnesota when Casey was five and he attended Chanhassen Public Schools.  He met the woman who would light up his life, Marietta “Mari” Stone, and the two were married Sept.

Elizabeth “Betty” Malecha, age 81, of Jordan, Minn., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sept. 13, 2023.
A time of gathering will be held in honor of Betty on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023 from 3 - 5:30 p.m. with a short prayer service starting at 5:30 p.m., all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 104 First St. W, Jordan, Minn.
Betty will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

The Parade of Farm Pride in New Prague Saturday, Sept. 16, was a fun event as there were several farm vehicles. The parade was part of Dozinky, New Prague’s annual Czech harvest festival. There was food, dancing, music and vendors, many rooted in Czech heritage. The festival will wrap up with the Dozinky Variety Show at the local high school Saturday evening. A variety of vehicles participate in the 30th Annual Cruise Night in New Prague Friday evening, Sept. 15. Main Street was packed with spectators as vintage vehicles of all types and ages traveled a route that went out of town and back to New Prague’s Main Street. Cruise Night is part of New Prague’s harvest festival, Dozinky. The annual celebration continues Saturday, Sept. 16, with music, vendors, the Parade of Farm Pride and people celebrating their Czech heritage. New Prague High School recently announced its king and queen candidates for this year’s homecoming festivities. The Sixth Annual Hops for Hope at Giesenbrau Bier Co. in New Prague Saturday, Sept. 9, brought in $81,000, which will go into research for the neurodegenerative diseases ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and FTD (frontotemporal degeneration).
“This was the highest net profit we’ve had,” said JeNean Erickson, who helps organize Hops for Hope, about this year’s amount. She said the funds will be divided evenly between The ALS Association and The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.

Almost a year ago, the opportunity and pleasure of working here in New Prague became a reality.
There was much to anticipate back then.
One of the neat facets of working in New Prague is the annual Dozinky Czech harvest festival. It’s been said there are points during the coming weekend when the community’s population could swell to well over 12, 13,000 or more people. That will be really cool to see and experience.

The DFL Rural Caucus is hosting a legislative meeting Thursday, Sept. 21, 5 -7 p.m., at the New Prague Public Library, 400 Main St E, New Prague. Featured speakers are Rep. Kristi Pursell (D - Northfield) and Rep. Luke Frederick (D-Mankato).
