Andrew J. Regenscheid, the third son of Joseph F. and Esther L. (Harty) Regenscheid, was born on a hot, August 3, 1938, at the Regenscheid home in Cleveland, Minnesota. He joined older brothers Joseph H. and Bernard A.
Growing up in town meant Andy almost always had someone to keep busy with as a youth. He was enrolled in the Cleveland Public Schools as a first grader and attended the school until his graduation, 12 years later, on May 24, 1956.
Andy joined the U. S. Army Reserve in late May and on June 2nd started his basic training as a seventeen-year-old. He received his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, graduating from his basic military training on his 18th birthday. He returned home in Cleveland on the 4th of August in time to participate in festivities of a surprise 25th Wedding Anniversary for his mom and dad.
After his leave time, Andy reported to Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, and started training with an Artillery Unit. A number of those assigned to his unit, along with himself, were transferred to Clerk Typist School where he received four weeks of training.
Upon graduation from Clerk Typist training, he was assigned to Fort Chaffee Post Headquarters as a clerk. On November 2, 1956, he was separated from active military service. Upon returning back to Cleveland, Andy enrolled for the...
