The Department of Minnesota Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliary held their annual convention June 8-12 in Plymouth, MN. The VFW and VFW Auxiliary members attended various training seminars and program information sessions. Various Minnesota veterans homes showcased their facilities. A joint awards session and a joint memorial service brought members of the VFW family together during the five-day event.
Dan Meyer was elected as the VFW commander and Dave Scofield was elected as the Auxiliary president of the Department of Minnesota VFW Officers for the 2023- 2024 service year. The VFW and Auxiliary theme from Meyer and Scofield is “Together We Can,” to bring together the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary to work together as one. Meyer and Scofield are VFW members from other parts of the state.
Ed Keogh was elected as junior vice-commander of Department of Minnesota VFW and was also elected as vice-president of the Minnesota VFW Charitable Association. Keogh is the commander of VFW Post 5340 in Montgomery, past District Two commander, past Department of Minnesota VFW Judge Advocate, District Two VFW trustee, president of the Le Sueur County Veterans Council, coordinator of the Montgomery Veterans Park, and member of the Montgomery Area Honor Guard.
