Thousands of bullheads (12,500) were served, rain drops were few, and queens were crowned.
These were just some of the many things associated with the 2023 Waterville Bullhead Days celebration, which was held June 9 through June 11.
One of the highlight events of the weekend was the Friday night crowning of Miss Waterville and Junior Miss Waterville.
Izabela Slechta, daughter of David and Heather Slechta, was crowned Miss Waterville 2023. Shelby Briggs, daughter of Sara Tiedimann and Levi Radloff, was crowed Attendant.
Leena Andree, daughter of Kyle and Taisha Andree was selected Junior Miss Waterville. Attendants are Alaina Joubert, daughter of Bob and Anne Joubert and Kylie Krienke, daughter of Kyle Krienke and Angie Krienke.
The Friday night Classic Car Roll-in featured dozens of vehicles and the Lions Club fire works display was considered one of the best Bullhead Days has ever witnessed.
Saturday was packed with tons of activities. More than 125 individuals participated in the Sakatah Challenge. Fairway Independent Mortgage and Sakatah Challenge presented a donation of $10,000 to the Waterville Fire Department.
Nearly half of the fishermen in the Waterville Fire Departmernt Bass Fishing Tournament recorded fish. The winning team out of 50 was Travis Kimbro and Mike Mertins with their 20.75 pound haul.
There were 69 youth fishing in the Kids Fishing Tournament. Nolan Kernz of Lakeville caught 11 fish, Remme Sampson of Waterville caught the largest fish, a 16-inch bass, and 60 total fish were caught.
There were more than three dozen vendors lined the streets for the Outdoor Vendor Fair.
Fourteen competitors put their remote control cars on the line in the NAPA Demolition Derby. Dozens of trucks and tractors of all shapes and sizes put on a great show at the Truck and Tractor Pull Saturday afternoon.
Two of the greatest bean bag throwers in Bullhead Days history finished first and tied for third in the annual event which had 26 players. Jake Morsching tied for first and his father-inlaw Dean Roemhildt tied for third.
Just for Kix and the New Prague ATA Martial Artists put on some very enjoyable demonstrations.
There were 73 competitors in the Kid Power Pedal Tractor Pull competition which was held during a brief rain Saturday evening.
