Trojans gearing up for indoor softball playoff run

New Prague’s undefeated indoor softball team is aiming for a deep playoff run.

The Trojans are 4-0 with two games this week. Tuesday’s clash, April 29, with South Suburban was played after the newspaper’s press deadline. NP will complete the regular season today, Thursday, May 1, 4:30 p.m., at Park High School in Cottage Grove against South Washington County.

A pair of wins will advance New Prague into post-season play as a top seed in the southern half of the state. The state tournament is May 16-17 at Chanhassen High School.

Trojans 14, PL-Shakopee-Chan.-Chaska 4 New Prague blasted its way to a 14-2 lead before Prior Lake-ShakopeeChanhassen-Chaska added three late runs in the April 24 clash.

“Our offensive leaders in this game were Carter Tupy, Elliot Soukup, Trystan Seger, and Logan Bermel. They all of them reached base multiple times and caused havoc on the basepaths,” NP coach Jeremy Kalal said after the game. “We didn't play great defensively in this game, but we saw a few things we need to work on and get settled before our competition gets stronger.”
