Historical society looking for museum space

The Montgomery Historical Society (MHS) continued its mission of collecting, preserving, and disseminating area history at its annual meeting held on January 25 at Hilltop Hall.

President Jim Mladek called the meeting to order and reviewed the society’s activity over the past year and what members can expect in 2023.

Mladek explained that Ruth Viskocil is leading the effort of the MHS displays at the Montgomery Public Library, which will be changed out quarterly. Anyone with display items or collections to showcase are encouraged to contact Viskocil to possibly schedule a time-period for your items to be displayed.

The election of Society officers for 2023 was also held at the annual meeting with 20 members in attendance. Officers elected were Dan Roberts as president, Jim Mladek as vice president, Colleen Pavek as treasurer, Marcy Tupy as a three year trustee, and Ed Keogh as a two-year trustee. Continuing on the board are Dorothy Trinka as a one year trustee and Jean Keogh as secretary.

Mladek said the board is still continuing efforts to find a building suitable for a museum for the MHS.
