Letter to the Editor: Volunteer Month
April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month, and I’m writing today to celebrate someone who has spent the last four years supporting our students. As an AmeriCorps member with Math Corps, April Iverson has focused on providing Montgomery area students with extra practice and support to improve their math skills. Over the past four years, she has given a total of 3,375 hours to help students succeed!
April works one-on-one or in small groups with students who need extra help building their skills. With April supplementing the excellent work our teachers are doing in their classrooms, we’ve seen wonderful growth.
She’s been an invaluable part of our community, and the students have fun working with her.
I couldn’t let the school year end without acknowledging April and all she’s done to support our students – it's been incredible having her be part of the school community. We’re looking for more great people like April to join our team as a tutor. If you’re interested, please visit join.readingandmath.org.

Principal’s Note
Tri-City United Montgomery PreK-8 Principal Abby Brockway said, “April works in my building and is absolutely wonderful. A Montgomery native, she has both of her children attending our school. The connections she builds with students are truly remarkable, and we are so fortunate to have her on our team.”
