Rezac, Roemhildt honored with Quilts of Valor

Clayton Roemhildt receives his Quilt of Valor from Brenda Domonoske and Tammy Thayer Saturday, April 26.
Part of being a veteran is fighting to protect the country and all who live in it. Meaning to this day our ability to spend a day without worry is in part thanks to the efforts of veterans. We, the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 311 of Elysian hold solemn pride in the heroism of those who served in all wars with American involvement and of those who died. America’s veterans represent the epitome of patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
One of the easiest ways we can support veterans is a simple heartfelt and sincere thank you. The expression of gratitude for everything that the veteran faced and gave up is a small gesture, and our American veterans need to hear it more often. Every veteran and military family member deserves to be honored for their service and sacrifice.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 311 from Elysian is very proud to award two veterans from our Post who have been touched by war, the Quilt of Valor (QOV). These men received this special symbol of gratitude at Post 311’s annual membership banquet on April 26th for when they served in the armed services with honor and dignity, and continue to do so for our country and community. The quilt of valor is an expression of gratitude meant to thank and comfort a veteran. We honor them for leaving all they held dear to serve, whether in time of crisis or in time of peace. These quilts unequivocally say thank you for your service, sacrifice, and valor in serving our nation.
