Judy Barbara Villwock, 77

Judy Barbara Villwock, 77, of Owatonna, died Thursday, June 1, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born June 21, 1945 in New Ulm, Minnesota the daughter of Albert and Rose (Fleck) Schmidt. She was a 1963 graduate of Waterville High School. After high school, she began working at Federated Insurance.

On April 24, 1965, she married Maynard Otto Villwock in Owatonna. The couple lived in Clinton Falls Township and in 1992 moved to Owatonna. After starting her family, she worked out of the home providing daycare for many amazing families until Cheryl went to kindergarten. She then returned to her career at Federated and worked until her retirement in December, 2009.

In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, canning, reading, watching her soap (Days Of Our Lives) and the Hallmark channel. One of her favorite pastimes was creating the most beautiful quilts for family and friends and selling them at the Farmers Market. She loved spending time sitting on her front patio and waving to all that would admire her beautiful manicured lawn and gardens. She enjoyed watching the birds in her birdbaths and listening to the sweet sounds of summer.

The greatest joy in her life were her four grandchildren. She loved to teach them how to bake, garden and love fiercely. She reveled in them staying overnight and allowed them all the cookies and treats they wanted, just as a Grandma should. She taught them about Jesus and exemplified the Christian Faith.

She was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and cherished her church family.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Villwock of Belle Plaine, Gary Villwock of Owatonna, Jodi (Eric) Erickson of Owatonna and Cheryl Villwock of Owatonna; grandchildren, Katie Villwock of Owatonna, Nick Villwock of Belle Plaine, Parker Erickson of Owatonna, Sawyer Erickson of Owatonna; siblings, Marlys (Ronald) Peterson of Mankato and Kathie Evans of Otsego; nieces and nephews and many friends.
