WEM grads involved in college sports

A number of WEM graduates have continued their sporting careers this fall in a number of different college sports.

The top performance from a Buccaneer graduate has been that of Gustavus Adolphus senior Tierney Winter.

Winter has been running for the Gusties for four years and this season has been by far her best season.

Winter not only finished second in the MIAC Championships, she also placed sixth in the NCAA C e n t r a l R e g i o n Championship, which advanced her to the Division III NCAA Championships.

In the MIAC Meet, Winter was clocked in the 6K race in 21:56.9, which was the ninth fastest time in school history. The other eight faster times were recorded by Hailey Harren, the 2005 MIAC Champion.

According to head coach Brenden Huber, “She’s been on a different level for the past month. When she’s running like we know she can, good things are going to happen. Hats off to her for believing in herself and her confidence.”
