Kokoschke, McBroom each score 30+ in wins

For the first time this season, two different WEM boys basketball players scored more than 30 points in a given week.

Senior Grant McBroom dropped in 31 in a 80-47 win over United South Central Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Senior Cole Kokoschke scored a career-high 33 points in an 87-64 win over K e n y o n - Wa n a m i n g o Thursday, Jan. 16.

The two wins improve WEM’s Gopher Conference record to 6-0 and overall record to 13-1.

The two performances by the WEM All-Conference players were very similar. Both players made 12-of- 20 shots from the field. McBroom was 8-of-12 on two-pointers and 4-of-8 on three-pointers. He was also 3-of-3 on free throws.

Kokoschke was 9-of-13 on two-pointers and 3-of-7 on three-pointers. He was also 6-of-8 on free throws.

The Bucs had no trouble disposing of the Rebels, building a 55-19 lead at halftime.

The two teams were tied after three minutes, 8-all. WEM went on a 47-11 run the remainder of the opening half.

For much of the second half the lead was more than 40, before USC scored the last 12 points of the game over the final nine minutes.

Sophomore Domanik Paulson had a solid allaround game, scoring 13 points and adding seven rebounds, seven assists, and six steals in 25 minutes.
