David (Dave) Lee Uherka, 43

David (Dave) Lee Uherka died surrounded by loved ones at Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN on December 12, 2019 at age 43 after a courageous battle with Type 1 Diabetes.

Dave was born on March 28, 1976 to Richard Uherka and Diane Uherka (Owens) of Mankato, MN. He moved with his family to Virginia, MN in 1978 where he attended Roosevelt High School with the class of ‘94. Dave moved to Waterville, MN in 1996 to be closer to sister, Mary Canaday (Vanne). He earned his Associates degree in Electronics for Manufacturing Technologies at South Central College in North Mankato, MN and made a career as a Senior Manufacturing Process Technician at Itron in Waseca, MN. Dave was active in the community, helping others through Habitat for Humanity and United Way. He enjoyed working with his hands and helping others. He was often found helping to fix homes or cars for friends and strangers alike.

Dave is survived by his maternal grandmother Ruth Aanas; mother Diane Owens; sisters Mary Canaday, Tammy Vanne, and Sandra Sellnow; and nephews Aaron, David, and Aiden. He is proceeded in death by his fraternal grandparents George & Elrene Uherka; maternal grandfather Richard Aanas; and father Richard Uherka.

Dave’s family and friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life anytime between 4&8PM on January 5th at Jonnie Beans Café on the lower level of the Miller Armstrong Building located at 204 2nd St SW in Waseca, MN.
