Anne Marie Nibbe, 67

Anne Marie Nibbe, 67, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2020 after a long and brave battle with ovarian cancer. Anne was born in Waseca, MN on September 19th, 1952. She was the daughter of Roger and Marcella (Sexton) Williams. Anne was a graduate of Waterville-Elysian High School and Mankato State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She started her 39 year teaching career in Springfield in 1975 and married Dirk Nibbe, her husband of 37 years in 1982. They had two daughters Cathryn Anne in 1985 and Julie Marie in 1988. She retired from teaching in 2014. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a few short months after retiring. Anne had a passion for reading and theater that touched the lives of the students she taught and coached in High School Speech. Many students have fond memories of her reading Junie B Jones books to them in her rocking chair. She was a lover of books, especially children’s books for her classroom and cozy mysteries. She loved a good cup of coffee, lunch with “The Nine Fine Women Who Dine” and shopping dates with friends and her daughters.

Anne is survived by husband Dirk Nibbe; daughter and daughter-in-law Cathryn and Emily Nibbe, daughter and son-in-law, Julie (Nibbe) Vilendrer and Chris Vilendrer; grandson, Logan Vilendrer; brother, Bruce Williams and partner Joan Stowe; nieces, nephews, and family pet, Cheeto the cat. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Marcella Williams; her in-laws, Marvin and Francell Nibbe; grandparents; and beloved pets Ben and Romeo.

Visitation was on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and continued on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the St. Raphael Catholic Church, Springfield, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. Raphael Catholic Church, Springfield, MN, on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Father Phil Schotzko. Anne's urn will be taken home to be with her family. There will be no interment.

Arrangements were with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, Minnesota. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
