Violet Patterson, 85

Violet Mae Patterson, age 85, of rural New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, July 12, 2019, at her home. Vi was born on March 12, 1934 in Freeborn County, MN to Harry and Rose (Rebelien) Fink. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and shortly after graduation, married John Patterson at Salem Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They lived for a short time in Albert Lea and moved frequently before settling at their beloved farm in Derrynane Township in 1969. Vi was primarily a homemaker but did some secretarial work in her early years and worked in health care at Mala Strana Nursing Home. She was a self-taught business woman and owned Quality With Price with her husband from 1981 until retirement in 1994. Vi and John belonged to bowling leagues in their younger years and Vi was a loving caregiver throughout her life. She thoroughly loved country life and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

Vi is survived by her children, Jennifer (Michael) Cohen of Pennsylvania, Mike (Brenda) Patterson of Waseca, Teresa Patterson of New Prague; best friend, June Hansen; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John on June 8, 1998; sisters, Ilene Ruth Horning & Vivian Rose Schroeder; nephew, David Schroeder.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague with the Rev. Diane Goulson officiating and the Rev. Chuck Anderson participating. Visitation will take place at church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Burial will occur at Czech National Cemetery with lunch following in the church social hall. bruzekfuneralhome.com
