Trojan softball wins twice

After a two-day delay due to rain, the New Prague Trojan softball team won two games Thursday, May 23, to remain unbeaten in the Section 1AAAA softball tournament.
in the first game, Mia Kraimer had a three-run home run and Kennedy Buckman had two home runs as New Prague defeated Owatonna 13-1 in five innings.
In game two, the No. 4 seed Trojans faced the No. 1 seed Lakeville North Panthers. Kraimer threw seven shutout innings. allowing five hits and striking to seven and the Trojans scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings to take a 3-0 win. Buckman got the Trojans on the board with a homer in the fourth.
New Prague advances to the championship round finals and will face No. 3 seed Farmington at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Todd Park in Austin. The winner of that game will play on Thursday, May 30, for the championship having to win just once, while the team coming out of the loser’s bracket would need to win twice to claim the title. Farmington defeated No. 6 Rochester Mayo and No. 2 seed Rochester John Marshall to advance.
