When the New Prague swimming and diving team competes on the road, the activities director of the school they are competing at should be ready to change his records boards.

In nearly every meet this year, a Trojan swimmer has set either a new New Prague record or a new pool record, which are displayed at most pools.

Payton Schieffer and the 200 Medley Relay Team continue to re-write the record books.

The Trojans started last week with a 97-89 win over St. Peter.

"We had an amazing meet against St. Peter," head coach Cassie Jung said. "This has historically been a fairly strong team and we knew going into it we had a chance to win."

Schieffer broke the St. Peter pool record in winning the 100 butterfly in 59.25.

The 200 Medley Relay team of Schieffer, Ella Lund, Carolyn DeLuca, and Taylor Bassett won this race by nine seconds.

Schieffer placed first in the 200 Individual Medley (2:16.33) and Lund placed second (2:23.68).
Bassett, an eighth grader, won the 50 freestyle (26.86).

Nellie Dalsin, Ava Bruegger, and Brooklyn Schrock placed first, second, and third in the diving competition.

Also winning was Grace Grazzini in the 100 Backstroke (1:11.00) and Alexis Day placed second (1:11.03).

The Trojans hosted their first home meet of the season Thursday, Sept. 9 against Benilde-St. Margaret's.

"We swam against one of the top teams in our conference and even though we came out a little short in the score, it was one of the most fun meets we have had," Jung said.
