Sheriff Hennen among Gov. Walz appointments
Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen was appointed to the Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), effective Monday, April 5. His appointment was among several board appointments recently announced by Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.
“I am honored to represent the Sheriffs of Minnesota and partner alongside other accomplished public safety professionals and community members from around the state to help achieve the POST Board’s mission of regulating and enhancing the profession of law enforcement,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen. “This opportunity will also allow me to share successful initiatives local law enforcement has implemented in Scott County.”
Sheriff Hennen replaces Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson. The Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training is responsible for setting regulations and controlling the training and licensing of police officers in Minnesota. Among the board’s powers and duties are to license peace officers and part-time peace officers; establish minimum qualifications and standards of conduct; and regulate professional peace officer education and continuing education for peace officers.
