New Prague girls lacrosse team defeats Mayo

The New Prague Junior Varsity girls lacrosse team defeated Rochester Mayo 8-2 and the varsity followed with a 14-4 win Thursday, April 22.

The JV played really well on both ends of the field. Addison Fischer scored four goals to lead the Trojans with Audrey Johnson, Emily Johnson, Rachel Brandt and Lilly Weiland all contributing goals. The defense played well and goalie Maddie Danner had a great evening keeping them to two.

The varsity girls came out strong with Allie Schmidt winning the draw and getting the ball to Eme Halbmaier for the score within the first minute of play. That really set the tone for the game and New Prague kept the ball on their own end of the field for the first four minutes of play.

When it did get to Mayo’s end of the field New Prague got a shooting space foul and Brigid Schumacher had a great save to keep the ball from the net. Schmidt got the ball and traveled....
