Martha D. Madera, 96

Martha D. Madera, age 96, of Brooklyn Center, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 5:30 AM in the arms of her loving daughter, Mary, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a brief illness.  Martha was born on March 31, 1924 in Lonsdale to Thomas J. and Julia (Douda) Voracek.  She attended both grade school and high school in Lonsdale.   She married the love of her life, Edmund J. Madera of New Prague on August 23, 1942 in San Diego, CA, where Edmund was stationed with the US Navy during World War II.  The couple made their home in New Prague where Martha enjoyed gardening, attending polka dances and enjoyed reading Zane Grey novels.  Martha died just one day shy of her 97^th birthday and was fortunate enough to live out her life at home because of the superb care she received from her son, Thomas.

 Martha is survived by sons, Edmund, Jr. (Karen) of Northfield, Thomas of Brooklyn Center, David (Donna) of Crystal; daughter, Mary (George) Ramirez of Alpine, CA, son-in-law, Gregg Langhoff of Brooklyn Park; grandchildren, Shawn Madera, Cathy Hubers, Jesse & Mike Langhoff, Mary Ann Rossiter, Josh & Matt Ramirez; great-grandchildren, Luke, Kayla, Teig, Peyton, Claire, Thomas, & Kate; brother, Thomas Voracek of Owatonna.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmund on February 14, 1992; daughter, Nancy Langhoff; grandchild, Andre Therese Langhoff in infancy; sisters, Julia Lexa, Mary Kubes, Helen Amundsen.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Theisen officiating.  Mass will be live-streamed on npcatholic.org. Masks & social distancing are required at church.  Burial will be held at 2:00 PM at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.  bruzekfuneralhome.com
