Grapplers open with three dual wins

The New Prague wrestling team hosted an invitational Saturday, Dec. 4 and picked up three straight dual meet victories.

The Trojans defeated Austin (69-12), East Ridge (80-0), and St. Peter (40-27).

Senior Noah Block, sophomore Destiney Lofton, and eighth grader Peyton Elgren each won their first varsity matches.

In the win over Austin, New Prague received seven forfeits and a win by default. Koy Buesgens (132), Colton Bornholdt (152), and Evan Anderson (195) each won by fall.

In the win over East Ridge, the Trojans picked up bonus points in seven of the 14 bouts and received forfeits in the other seven. Lofton (120) won by fall in 1:30 and Block (170) won by fall in 1:44. Other pinners were Buesgens (138), Bornholdt (152), and Evan Farley (160). Tommy Vaughan (113) won by 15-6 major decision as did Luke Dorweiler (145) by a 21-9 score.
