Construction project changes set for Monday

The City of New Prague, SEH Engineering and project contractors announced Friday that the detour route for the street construction project will change after the morning rush on Monday, August 12.
The intersection of Columbus Ave and 12th Street, which is being made into a roundabout, will be opened to traffic around 7 a.m. Monday.
A short time later, the intersection of Seventh Street NE (former County Road 37(and Columbus Ave. will be closed to traffic around mid-morning, for construction of another roundabout.
Current access to the high school is from the west along Hwy 21 and 12th Street NW. On Monday, access to the high school will become easier as routes from the both the east as well as the west will be open.
The city asks that drivers and residents continue to follow the posted detour signs and avoid the closed off area at County Road 37 and Columbus Avenue. There will be some slight adjustments to the detour route as the access changes for a period of time. The designated detour is at the signal light at 10th Ave NE (former County Road 37) and Main Street, north and west to Lexington Ave. S., then north on Lexington and Heritage Parkway to 12th Street NE.
It is expected that the intersection of Columbus and Seventh Street will be closed for about two weeks.
