A full ‘Hunter’s Moon’ shined brightly over the steeple at St. John the Evangelist Church in Union Hill Thursday night, Oct. 17. The moon’s nickname is easy to understand if you know game animals, particularly deer, turkey and pheasants, are traditionally hunted in mid- to late-autumn. This particular super moon was extra special since its orbit was closest to Earth, which made it appear brighter than any other super moons this year, according to staff at space.com in one of their online postings.
