New Prague runs the table to win Section 3C Championship

New Prague entered the 10-team Region 3C amateur baseball tournament as the No. 6 seed.
They ended the tournament as the Region 3C Champions.
The Orioles upset No. 3 seed Lonsdale, 3-1, edged No. 2 seed Prior Lake, 5-4, and knocked off No. 1 seed St. Patrick, 3-1, to claim the region's No. 1 seed in the Class C State Tournament.

In the championship game, New Prague scored first with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Jake Deutsch singled and scored on a single by James Fuerniss. Fuerniss scored on a single by Eric Wagner, giving the Orioles a 2-0 lead.
St. Patrick countered with a solo run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a double by Seth Ambroz and a run scoring single by designated hitter Dom DeLuca.
Nathan Osbourne plated the only other run of the game with a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Pitching was at a premium, with only 12 total hits allowed by four pitchers.
Bryce Novak started for the Orioles and earned the victory, pitching five innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out six. Nathan Sprouls recorded the save by pitching four innings of scoreless baseball. He struck out four and did not walk a batter.
Zach Seurer went seven innings for the Irish. He allowed three runs on four hits while striking out eight.
Phillip Garcia all three hits in two innings of relief.
No player from either side had more than one hit. Ambroz and Jack Friedges each had doubles for St. Patrick and Osborne hit the solo home run for New Prague.

In other playoff games:
New Prague 5, Prior Lake 4
New Prague advanced to the Region 3C finals with a 5-4 win over Prior Lake.
The Orioles had 13 hits, led by Eric Wagner and James Fuerniss with three hits each. Wagner had a pair of doubles.
Luke Weber and Jake Lehrer had two hits each for the Mudcats.
TJ Bergland, Luke Tupy, Patrick Timmer, and James Fuerniss each pitched for the Orioles, with Bergland earning the win.
Weber pitched 6 1/3 innings and Justin Hackett 2 2/3 for Prior Lake.

St. Patrick 10, Union Hill 0, 7 innings
St. Patrick advanced to the championship with a 10-0, 7 inning win over Union Hill Tuesday, August 11.
Irish centerfielder Kyle Rhodus was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, seven RBI and a pair of home runs.
He hit a two run bomb in the third inning then smacked a grand slam in the fourth inning.
Joe Becker and Conrad Masberg had the lone hits for the Bulldogs off Collin Denk, who pitched a seven inning shutout.
Masberg pitched the first six innings for Union Hill.
Jack Friedges and Jordan Goracke each had two hits for the Irish.
Union Hill 18, Prior Lake 8, 8 innings

In the third place game Saturday, Aug. 15, Union Hill scored eight first inning runs and added five in the eighth.
The Bulldogs were led by Adam Geisen with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI and Will Busch with two hits and three RBIs.
Jonny Houston and Luke Weber each had two hits for the Mudcats.
Joe Becker, Ben Novak, Dan Meger, and Nathan Berg pitched for the Bulldogs. Jackson Kesler allowed eight runs on three hits in 1/3 of an inning for the Mudcats.

Union Hill 10, Lonsdale 0

In an elimination game Thursday, Aug. 13, the Bulldogs had two hits and three RBI from Busch and three hits from Adam Giesen, and two hits and three RBI from Danny Beckius.
Jack Kruetzian struck out six and gave up two hits in 5 1/3 innings for Union Hill.
Phil Tisdel allowed eight runs on 10 hits in three innings for Lonsdale.
The Aces finished with only four hits.

Prior Lake 11, Faribault 3
Corbin Cross went 5-for-5 for Prior Lake in this elimination game Thursday, Aug. 13.
Jake Lehrer, Ben Morrison, and Jerad Lehrer each added two hits.
Mike Carpentier had two hits for the Lakers.
Faribault advanced to this game by edging Shakopee 4-3

Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Lonsdale 6, St. Benedict 1 Phil Tisdel, Ryan Roby, and Ross Beumer limited St. Benedict to one run on five hits in this elimination game Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Tisdel pitched the first 7 2/3 innings and recorded the win.
Beumer and Zach Breedan each collected three hits. Jack Skluzacek hit a pair of doubles.
The Saints lone run was knocked in by Jeremy Heitkamp. Mitchell Martin singled and later scored.
Twelve players drafted. The four teams which advanced into next weekend's Class C State Tournament had a chance to draft three players and add them to their tournament roster.

New Prague drafted Veseli players Beau Brantner and Will Forberg, and Lonsdale's Phil Tisdel.
St. Patrick drafted Joey Grote of Faribault, Eric Steinhoff of Veseli, and Jack Meyer of Webster.
Union Hill drafted St. Benedict players Jeremy Heitkamp and Matthias Duevel and Ben Fredenburg of Shakopee.
Prior Lake drafted three players from St. Benedict - Alex Donkers, Cole Minnick, and Cody Pirkl.
