Long-time Le Sueur County Veteran Service Director Jim Golgart informed the Le Sueur County Board his plans to retire.

Golgart, who started with the county in 2000, plans to retire as of June 5, 2020.

“After careful thought and consideration I have decided to retire from my position of the Director of Veteran Services for Le Sueur County,” Golgart said to the board from a written statement.

“This decision does not come easy as I have served the Veterans of Le Sueur County with utmost passion and respect for over 19 years. It truly has been a pleasure working for the veterans and citizens of Le Sueur County.”

There are 11 service organizations in Le Sueur County and hundreds of veterans Golgart has worked with on a regular basis.

Golgart said when he started the county was receiving $1 million in benefits and that number has risen to $11 million.

The search for Golgart’s replacement will start around the first of the 2020 calendar year. Golgart said he is more than willing to help with the hiring and training of his replacement.

“I want to find the best person so the veterans of Le Sueur County are taken care of,” Golgart added.
