The Tri-City United Titans hosted two dual meets last week at TCU High School and dominated in all of them.

Coach Brian Mikel said the wins were against some good schools and that it put the Titans’ record at 16-3.

“There were a couple of close ones with St. Peter and Grand Meadow. Those are two quality teams with some very tough kids,” he stated. “The team has been working hard in the mat room to keep improving every day. They have their eyes on some big goals they are trying to achieve. It’s been good team effort so far, but we can never be satisfied. We need to keep improving if we want to reach our goals.”

The first of the team’s successes was a triangular on Tuesday against St. Clair and St. Peter.

TCU easily won the St Clair-Mankato Loyola meet with a score of 55-8. Out of the 12 matches, the Titans won five by forfeit. The majority of TCU’s points came from pins by Caleb Whipps (126 pounds), Brandon Balma (145) and Tyler Schroer (182).

In their second bout of the night, TCU took on St. Peter with the deciding match being the last of the night. With a trailing team score of 24-28, Jose Reyes (285) had some work to do to push the Titans into the winning category.

In 5:10, Reyes pinned Hayden Thole and won the match for the Titans with a score 30-28.

The Titans hosted three teams for a quadrangular on Thursday, Jan. 24 and again walked away the victors, winning all three matches. They beat Grand Meadow High School LeRoy-Ostrander High School (GMLOS) with a score of 39-27, Burnsville 65-10, and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown/Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (WEM/JWP) 67-9.
