Titans break losing streak with win over Mayer Lutheran

The TCU Softball Team broke a seven-game losing streak with a decisive win over Mayer Lutheran on Thursday, May 5. The game was the first of the doubleheader at North Side Park. The Titans won 14-4 in the first game, but lost 4-5 in the second.

The win came on the heels of the team’s losses that week to Le Sueur-Henderson (LSH) last Tuesday.

Tri-City United 0 Le Sueur-Henderson 4 The Giants put the game away in the top of the first inning when they scored four runs. They scored on two errors by TCU players, another on a fly ball, and the final on a ground ball to center fielder Savannah Squires.

The TCU team was at bat 22 times, and were struck out 15 times. The Titans committed three errors to the Giants’ one.

Titan Alexis Hoefs was the games losing pitcher. She pitched seven innings, allowing three hits, four runs and three strikeouts.

Tri-City United 3 Le Sueur-Henderson 7 In their second game against LSH, the Titans battled and scored three runs.

The first two innings were scoreless for both teams, until TCU put a run on the scoreboard when Molly Closser set things up with a hard ground ball to left field for a single. Cristina Cruz hit a fly ball and advanced to second. Ellaina Novak walked, leaving Closser on third. Adison Schroer singled on a fly ball to center field to score Closser.

The Titans scored twice in the top of the fourth inning. Squires scored on Closser’s fly ball to center field, and Mallorie Plut scored on an error.
