Montgomery police officer passes away unexpectedly

Officer Bryan Tupy, who began with the Montgomery Police Department in October 2019, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021.

Officer Tupy began his law enforcement career as a part-time officer for the City of Le Center in 2015. Officer Tupy generally worked the afternoon or night shift with Officer Jack Strand.

In a press release from the City of Montgomery, Officer Tupy built many positive and close relationships within the department and the community. Chief Nathan Hintz commented that Officer Tupy was very well-liked by his co-workers and by the community. Hintz added that he received several positive comments on Officer Tupy’s professionalism and conduct.

The release stated, “The city will miss Officer Tupy and his presence in the department and the community, and it sends condolences and prayers Officer Tupy’s family.”

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Father George Grafsky officiating and Fathers Eugene Theisen and Michael Miller concelebrating. Visitation will be held at Bruzek Funeral Home on Saturday from 3-7 PM and Sunday from Noon – 1:15. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery following Mass.
