Le Center man one of 12 injured in I-35 crash

A Le Center man was one of 12 people injured Sunday, September 19 when a semi struck six passenger vehicles from behind on southbound I-35. The vehicles were stopped for a construction zone.

According to State Patrol incident reports, the incident occurred near milepost 73, just south of Elko New Market, at 7:52 p.m.

Rice County Sheriff, Northfield Fire, New Market Fire, Scott County Sheriff, and New Market Police responded.

Murray D Wood, 58, of Manitoba, MB, was driving the 2016 Kenworth T680 semi. He was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

Dwain Thomas Wiener, 33, of Le Center and his 15-year-old passenger from Erie, ND, were transported to the Northfield Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were both seat belted in a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country at the time of the crash.

Brenda Martha Nieto Reyes, 26, of Faribault and her three passengers (ages 2, 4, and 10) were transported to District One Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They had all been seat belted in a 2016 Chrysler 300C.
