Cross Country to send two to State
The Tri-City United Cross Country Team is sending its captains to the State Track Meet after their performances at the Section Meet Thursday, Oct. 24.
Austin Antony and Hunter Rutt both qualified for state placing fourth and 13th respectively.
Coach Brian Fogal said the two athletes have worked hard all season, and their results prove it.
“This year's captains led by example, working really hard each day in practice. They put in a lot of miles this summer and over the past several years,” Fogal stated. “Austin broke his own school record at the meet. Hunter beat his own personal best time by 20 seconds.”
The Section 2A meet was held at the Riverside Town and Country Golf Course in Blue Earth. The boys team finished third, behind St. James in first place and Mankato Loyola/Cleveland in second.
The state tournament will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at St. Olaf College in Northfield. Antony and Rutt will run at 2 p.m.
