Seven businesses participated in this year’s Christmas-themed Kolacky Days Window Display Contest.

Moonshot on Main’s window display at The Rustic Farmer, which is located at 209 1st St. S., earned the most points—an impressive 525 points. Judges could award each entry up to 40 points for theme, 40 points for design, and 20 points for signs/explanatory materials.

The Rustic Farmer’s windows proudly feature the “12 Days of Czechmas.” In colorful paint, the 12 days are listed as: a Pilsner in a plum tree, 2 bowls of vomacka, 3 Czech dancers, 4 cabbage heads, 5 bologna rings, 6 pork-n-dumpings, 7 zelnicky-a-toasting, 8 carp-a-smoking, 9 polka bands-a-playing, 10 hogs-a-leaping, 11 poppyseed kolackys, and 12 Bohemians-a-drinking.

According to Julie Bifano, owner of Moonshot on Main, the idea for the 12 Days of Czechmas was triggered by her marketing team’s already running, 12 Days of Czech Heritage advertising campaign.

The Rustic Farmer, Revival on Main, Czech Inn, and Czech Mate are all brands under Bifano’s Moonshot on Main boutique event company.

“I work with Helen Bednar and her husband, Wes, who operate Rural Route MN of Le Center for all my marketing strategy and website design,” Bifano stated. “We had fun coming up with all the very Czech ideas, and Wes is the one who did most of the graphic work on the windows… I think it turned out great.”
