The No. 1 rated WEM volleyball team snapped a Faribault BA 137 Gopher Conference match winning streak on Thursday, Sept. 6 in Waterville. The Buccaneers defeated the Cardinals 22-25, 25-20, 25-14, and 25-21 ending a streak that has lasted nearly 19 years. The last loss in conference play by Faribault BA was October 14, 1999, when they were defeated by Blooming Prairie. Since then, the Cardinals have won 18 straight conference titles. Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers returned to the high school and middle school on Tuesday, Sept. 4. The students received the traditional warm welcome with teachers and staff members cheering for them as they made their walk down the Buccaneer-green carpet and into school. The younger Buccaneers will return to class on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

The 50th annual Shooter's Roundup in North Morristown was attended by thousands of individuals Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26. There were trick shooting shows, shopping opportunities, food opportunties, and of course, gun shooting throughout the weekend.

An overturned semi truck closed both the north and southbound lanes of State Highway 13/21 on Tuesday morning.
 
The single-vehicle accident happened around 9 a.m. at the intersection of 320th Street and Highway 13/21, north of the Lakeside Supper Club and south of Le Sueur County Road 28. Montgomery Police and the New Prague Fire Department are on the scene. Injuries are unknown at this time.

Tractors, new and antique functioning motors of all shapes and sizes aren't the only things happening at Pioneer Power. The show is also hosting historical construction equipment, antique trucks and food. The 45th annual show is also featuring music throughout the weekend, including that of the James Busta Band. There is also a Parade of Equipment, tractor pull, and an ecumenical church service. The parade of equipment is Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. each day. See more in the print edition. The for sale sign still stands outside the Le Sueur City Museum, but according to legal records, the historic property has been sold.
Le Sueur County Historical Society (LCHS) sold the property in January.
The land and buildings at 709 2nd Street North in Le Sueur, which is the location of the Le Sueur City Museum, are now owned by dairy cooperative Agropur Inc., according to an online property search.
A warranty deed filed with Le Sueur County in January 2018, indicates that the sale of the property occurred on January 17.

The Waterville Indians amateur baseball team will open their Class C State Tournament Sunday, Aug. 19 at Shakopee against Lastrup. Game time is set for noon. The Indians will be playing in the State Tourney for the first time since 2012. They won the 13-60 League this summer and placed second in the Region 6C Tourney, losing 6-3 to Jordan in the championship Sunday, Aug. 12 at Gaylord. A Le Sueur County man faces charges after a standoff Saturday, Aug. 11 in Tyrone Township. 
 
Bryant Holder, 32, is in custody in Le Sueur County Jail on charges of domestic assault, terroristic threats and assault in the second degree with a dangerous weapon, all felony charges.
 

The Waterville Indians deafted the Gaylord Islander 5-2 Friday night, August 10 at William J Grose Park in the Winner's bracket semifinal game of the Region 6C Tournament. The victory send the Indians to the Class C State tournament. They will play Gaylord Sunday, August. 12 at Gaylord for the Region 6C Championship. 19-year-old Luke Sellner pitched a complete game three-hitter, his second win in the Region Tourney. The Class A State Tourney starts August 16-19 in New Prague, Shakopee, and Jordan.

The WEM Board of Education approved the resignation of board member Rachel Androli during a special meeting Monday, Aug. 6. Androii is currently running for Waseca County attorney and in event she was to win this election, she could not hold two elected positions at one time. Announcing her resignation at this time saves the district the cost of holding a special election for her position at a later date. There are five of the seven spots up for the election on the WEM Board. Androli's spot is a two-year term. There are four, four-year terms also available. Check out the Aug.

Approximately two weeks ago, the WEM Board of Education held a special meeting to discuss facility planning based on the school district's survey results. At that time, there were five options presented by Gary Benson of Kraus Anderson. The board, staying within the wishes of the district residents of not going over the $20 million budget which was outlined in the survey, directed Benson to update the concept plans and costs budgets.

WEM 2018 graduate Amber Schramm placed second in the Junior Varsity Division of the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League State Trapshooting Championships in mid-June. The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners have decided to take over the rural emergency sirens in the county.
During the Tuesday, July 24 meeting the commissioners discussed results from a special meeting held July 17 among those interested in the emergency sirens.
There are nine rural sirens in the county, with one on Lake Washington, one on Lake Emily, one on Lexington, and three on German-Jefferson and three on Sakatah-Tetonka.
The Lake Washington Lakes Association did not request help with keeping their sirens operational.

Who can talk to whom, limiting free speech and protecting information are just a few of the recent events in the court case against the Le Sueur County Historical Society (LCHS).
 
According to an order filed in Le Sueur County Court on July 17, attorneys for LCHS have sought to restrict first amendment rights of those involved in the case. The proposed order filed by Attorney Raymond Konz, seeks to preclude the 16 plaintiffs in the case from disclosing “confidential” information between each other, puts limits on the media, and potentially other people in the public.

Hundreds of Bike MS: Ride Across Minnesota (formerly known as TRAM) peddled through the local area Wednesday morning, July 18, stopping for water in Waterville and enjoying a rest stop with snacks in Elysian. It was day three of the five-day, 300-mile trek.
The event raises funds to support breakthroughs in multiple sclerosis (MS) research and ensures people with MS have what they need to live their best lives.
