Lois Flanders, 97

Lois Flanders, 97, of Heartland Eventide in Devils Lake, ND and formerly of Langdon and Calvin, ND, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019, at CHI Hospital in Devils Lake.

Lois Orpha was born April 26, 1921, the daughter of Claude and Lena (Whitmore) Gage. She was born at the family farm in Grey Township east of Calvin, ND. She attended school at Grey School through her high school years. Lois was united in marriage to Donald Leslie Flanders on June 29, 1940. They made their home on the family farm east of Calvin.

Lois was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Presbyterian Church of Calvin and Langdon. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and dedicated her beautiful alto voice to the Calvin Church quartet. Lois and her husband, Donald, were avid campers through the Good Samaritan Club, played cards, and in her younger years, she threw a mean bowling ball.

Lois is survived by her children: Duaine (Peggy) Flanders of Benson, MN, Richard (Marlyn) of Calvin, ND, and Janice (Mack) Evans of Elysian, MN; grandchildren: Stephanie Martin, Sue Ellen Hodnot, Bruce Flanders, Heidi Evans, Mark Evans, and Kari Hill; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers Warren Gage and Duane Gage. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; sisters: Norma, Joyce, and Betty; brother Eugene; and grandson Brian.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019, at the Langdon Presbyterian Church with Reverend Sue Mackey officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before service time at the church. Burial will be in the spring at Corinthian Cemetery near Calvin, ND.
